Hy Aunty Momo, I hope you’re well. I need advice from your self and cousins. I am currently doing my third year in UJ and I gave birth in January. I stay in an apartment and my boyfriend helps me pay for it. Now my baby is growing and becoming fussy meaning I can’t get things done to my fullest potential anymore.
Since Jan I’ve been doing distance learning while growing my child and couldn’t leave her with my mother because she demands money (nothing less than 1500) if she were to look after my baby. My partner literally does almost everything for me without complaining and without any hesitation. His family went to pay damages to my family which they demanded R25k and it was all fully paid up.
I struggle to understand what my mother did with the money. What puzzles me is that she wants payment so that she can look after our baby as I proceed to contact classes. my partner thinks that it’s not fair since he is a present dad looking after my child and without any complains and he paid the damages so he feels like advantage is being taken of him .
Please advise because we(him and i) almost suggest that we take the child to day care but I feel like my baby is still young for day care and raising her all by my self here pulls a very heavy strain on me. My partner and I don’t even stay together he only comes to my apartment to visit. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Only his uncles and sisters stay in JHB. His mother is in the farms and we don’t have a strong bond. I think I’ve only seen her twice and can’t even hold a conversation with her because she only speaks Venda.
